En el Barco de la Amistad llegan a la URSS mil jóvenes cubanos para estudiar técnicas agrícolas. Osvaldo Dorticós, presidente de Cuba, recibe a misión soviética de buena voluntad, que encabeza el secretario del Presídium del Sóviet Supremo, Mijail Gueorgadze. Confeccionan en talleres cubanos piezas de repuesto para equipos y maquinarias en funcionamiento como medida para contrarrestar el bloqueo norteamericano. Jóvenes cubanos se forman como instructores de teatro, música y danza. Incidentes en una base militar francesa en Túnez.
